Ponte de la Scoazzera crosses the rio dei Scudi, a small Venetian canal, in a quiet, out-of-the-way corner of Castello, between Calle Donà and Campo a fianco la Chiesa. It is a stone bridge, with a brick-and-stone structure and iron railings in a diagonal-cross pattern. Its name recalls the scoazzere: walled, open-air enclosures where the city’s rubbish was once collected.
