At the corner between the Grand Canal and the rio (a Venetian canal) di San Polo, wedged between the Gothic Palazzo Pisani Moretta and Ca’ Cappello, stands a palazzo that owes its name to a unique anomaly: Palazzo Barbarigo della Terrazza. Daniele Barbarigo commissioned it between 1568 and 1569 to a design by Bernardino Contin, on the remains of two buildings already belonging to the family.
