Casa Favretto is a small Gothic palazzo on the right bank of the Grand Canal, tucked between the Pescheria and the rio di San Cassiano (a Venetian canal). Its 14th-century pointed-arch façade has a precious detail that is easy to miss: a Veneto-Byzantine cornice, nearly a thousand years old, made from an 11th-century piece of sculpture reused as a frieze.
