Calle Sant’Andrea (a calle is a narrow Venetian street), a short distance from Campo San Beneto, owes its name to a hospice that the monks of Sant’Andrea del Lido, or della Certosa, owned here: a very old monastery, founded in 1199 on an islet near the Lido harbour and passed in 1424 from the Augustinians to the Carthusians.
