A child in a life jacket, his feet below the level of the rio (a Venetian canal) and a flare spreading pink smoke like a distress signal: he appeared at night on a peeling wall at the water’s edge, while the city was crowded for the Biennale. It was the night between 8 and 9 May 2019. With acqua alta (exceptional high tide) he ends up almost submerged.
