Between Campo San Samuele and Campo Santo Stefano, the names of the calli tell of a theatre that is no more: Calle del Teatro, Ramo del Teatro, Fondamenta delle Scuole. Here, along the rio del Duca, the Grimani opened the Teatro di San Samuele in 1655, one of the great stages of 18th-century Venice.
