A few steps from Santa Maria dei Miracoli, at the foot of the Ponte Widmann, this Cannaregio passage runs under the houses as far as the Fondamenta Widmann, between the palace of the rich merchants from Carinthia and the Ponte del Piovan. The name tells of the trade once done here: the ’magazen’ was not a simple warehouse, but a wine shop — and much more, because these taverns also worked as pawnshops.
