Ruga Giuffa Sant’Apollonia runs through Castello from Ponte di Canonica to the campo of Santi Filippo e Giacomo, behind the Bridge of Sighs. “Ruga” is an old word for a street lined with houses on both sides, perhaps from the French rue. Behind these houses lies the little cloister of Sant’Apollonia, Venice’s only Romanesque cloister.
