This bridge can be raised. The steel span, thirty metres long and two and a half wide, is not fixed to the banks: it rests on plinths and, when needed, is lifted by almost a metre and a half with hydraulic jacks. It exists to let through the barges that go to the primary power station of San Giobbe, the substation on which the city’s network depends.
