At number 4107 on the Riva degli Schiavoni, with its Moorish windows looking out over St Mark’s Basin, Palazzo Gabrielli is a late Gothic residence dating from the end of the 14th century. The façade and inner courtyard still hold paterae and Veneto-Byzantine decorative fragments among later additions. It was home to the Gabrielli, one of the oldest tribunician families, and to the philosopher Trifone Gabriele, known as the ‘Venetian Socrates’.
