Between the Fondamenta Nuove (canalside walkways) and Calle Larga dei Boteri, in the working-class Cannaregio that looks towards Murano, Palazzo Corniani Algarotti is a 16th-century residence that owes its fame to an extraordinary tenant: Francesco Algarotti, the writer and art critic who brought Newton into the salons and Venetian masterpieces into the collections of kings.
