At the foot of the Campanile, this little jewel of polychrome marbles and bronzes is Sansovino’s Loggetta: a miniature triumphal arch, built between 1537 and 1549 as an open-air drawing room for the patricians on their way to the Doge’s Palace. Before that there stood here a wooden shelter moved from San Basso, among stalls of haberdashers and bakers.
